This year at Devil’s Lake, the annual First Day hike will be a twilight hike/snowshoe…
Take an early evening bike ride on the Great State Sauk Trail in the Sauk Prairie Recreation Area Tuesday, July 12th from 7pm to 9pm.
The naturalist will lead you along the trail to look for animal signs and wildlife in the prairies and meadows along this blacktop paved bike trail. Bring your own bike for this bike ride. This program is for women and is best for adults and girls 10 and older. Anyone 16 or older needs a trail pass to participate in this program.
Trail passes can be purchased at most Wisconsin State Parks or on the trail at a self-serve station near the Ruth Culver Library in Sauk-Prairie as well as at the Sauk Prairie Chamber of Commerce, Sauk City Village Hall, Prairie du Sac Village Hall, Sauk County Clerk’s Office and the Sauk County Parks and Recreation Office.
Meet at the gravel parking lot off Hwy 78 and Business 12 (By the United Coop).

For nearly 2 decades the Skillet Creek blog has focused on 3 main goals; To inspire you to visit and explore the Devil’s Lake region, to help you get the most your visit by sharing tips, events, and other helpful information. Lastly to advocate for our environment & wildlife and talk about how we can keep our natural areas amazing now and into the future! That last goal can sometimes cause controversy, but it’s the only way we can accomplish the first two. – Derrick Mayoleth, Owner.
