Northern Lights Campground at Devil’s Lake State Park offers 71 campsites with a mix of electric and non-electric options. Compared to the Quartzite campground, this campground is more wooded overall, with better shade and a more traditional “up north” campground feel. For those looking for shaded sites, especially electric sites in a wooded setting, Northern Lights is often the better choice.

The campground includes a modern shower building and a dump/fill station. Two sites are available for visitors with disabilities. The North Shore day-use area and beach are about a half mile away, with connector trails providing access. Visitors should be aware that the walk includes some fairly steep grades.

Access Note: To reach Northern Lights Campground, you must enter through the main park entrance. On busy weekends and holidays, this can mean longer wait times when returning to your campsite from outside the park.

Interesting Tidbit:
Northern Lights is the oldest campground at Devil’s Lake State Park, opened in 1939. Three of the four shower and restroom buildings were constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s.
