Where can you ride in the Devil’s Lake area? Well, if you’re bringing your own horse you have a few options.

400 State Trail

The 400 State Trail offers a 7-mile horse trail parallel to the bike trail between Wonewoc and LaValle. Horses must stay on the grassy portion and are not allowed on the limestone-surfaced trail.

White Mound County Park

White Mound County Park offers several miles of trails for those who bring their own horses. In addition to having horse trails, the park also has a horse campground complete with restrooms, picnic tables, hitching posts, trailer parking and fire rings. If you intend to camp overnight, please register at the office. The trails are open May 15th through November 1st.

Wild Cat Mountain State Park

Wildcat Mountain State Park offers a total of 15 miles of horse trails and along with 24 campsites for equestrians. A state trail pass is required for horseback riders 16 years of age and older. Horse trails are open May 1 to November 14 annually. (Experienced riders can rent horses to ride in Ontario.)

Kickapoo Valley Reserve

Kickapoo Valley offers approximately 37 miles of riding trails and borders Wildcat Mountain State Park as well. Trails are open from May 1 to November 15. Primitive camp areas are available on the Reserve that are accessible to vehicles with horse trailers.
