Yesterday, March 18th, a prescribed burn was carried out on Devil's Lake State Park's Roznos…

Severe storms rolled through our area yesterday afternoon, but fortunately, there wasn’t too much damage aside from more downed trees.
Just minutes after the tornado alerts sounded, the Baraboo area was hit with high winds and hail, some slightly larger than golf balls. (See gallery) We were watching the storm roll in from the North Shore parking lot.
Once things settled down, we followed the storm out to Steinke Basin, where an ominous cloud seemed to be forming a funnel at its base. Some have reported that it was actually down for a few moments.
Thankfully, our local area avoided major damage, but other parts of the state are still cleaning up this morning. Some communities remain without power.

For nearly 2 decades the Skillet Creek blog has focused on 3 main goals; To inspire you to visit and explore the Devil’s Lake region, to help you get the most your visit by sharing tips, events, and other helpful information. Lastly to advocate for our environment & wildlife and talk about how we can keep our natural areas amazing now and into the future! That last goal can sometimes cause controversy, but it’s the only way we can accomplish the first two. – Derrick Mayoleth, Owner.
