Why Hike It? If you can only hike one trail in the park it should either be the East Bluff Trail or West Bluff Trail. Great views from atop 500 cliffs on either route. The West Bluff Trail offers amazing views beyond the East Bluff to Lake Wisconsin in the distance.
Description: A difficult to medium effort trail that is asphalt with stone steps and a steep climb on both ends. Large sections of the trail, especially on both ends, are crumbling and in poor condition. Although the southern approach is more winding, it can often feel more challenging than the straightforward staircase on the north. The West Bluff Trail across the bluff top past drop-offs with many scenic views of the lake and park. (1.5 miles, approximate hiking time 1.5 hours) It can be combined with the Tumbled Rocks Trail along the lakeshore to make a 3-mile circuit.
