Canoeing Mirror Lake in Wisconsin Dells.

Mirror Lake was created from a dam placed on Dell Creek near Timm’s Mill County Park in Wisconsin Dells. The lake has 3 main lobes mostly surrounded by pine forests and tall sandstone cliffs which protect the lake and create a cool, calm place to paddle.

Side Note: We have seen snow remain in crevices of the cool sandstone walls near the lake well into June!

Mirror Lake is slow-no-wake on the entire lake which makes it a perfect paddling location. There are two boat landings on Mirror Lake. One is located within the state park and where boat rentals are located. The other is a canoe launch at Timm’s Mill. Actually from Timm’s mill you can launch into Mirror Lake above the dam, or head down stream to Lake Delton.

Adaptive Kayak

A specially adapted kayak is available for use by people with disabilities through Assit WI. Please contact them ahead of your visit to arrange for use of the kayak!

For wildlife lovers we recommend heading due west from the park’s boat landing. After paddling through a beautiful sandstone canyon, you’ll exit out into pickerel slough a favorite birding location during migrations. On a good day, you’ll see every sort of duck, geese, swans and sandhill cranes in the slough! As you continue through the slough, a deep channel will become apparent. Stay in the channel. The banks will tighten up and the current will increase until you are out of the slough and back in Dell Creek. You can continue upstream as far as the current and the overgrowth will let you. How far will you get? Well, that’s the challenge. Every year is different. Eventually, you’ll have to turn around and ride the current back to the park.
