Full Moon Paddle 2019

The popular annual Full Moon Paddle returns to Devil’s Lake State Park this Saturday, Aug 21st, from 8 pm to 10 pm.

Join us for a unique way to explore the lake – at night! We’ll decorate our boats with glowsticks before launching out into the night. You’ll need to bring your own kayak, canoe, or boat to participate. Please call to preregister by calling the Nature Center at (608) 356-8301 Ext. 140. This program is best for adults and children 10 and older. Meet at the North Shore Boat Launch.

Here are some tips for the event…

1. Arrive early so that you have time to prepare to paddle and decorate your kayak. Feel free to bring your own lights and get creative!

2. Bring your Life Jacket! Remember that life jackets are required to be worn for this night paddling event. (IF you fall in, we can use your life jackets as handles to get you back in the boat! Without them, rescues get much harder to accomplish!)

3. Dress to stay warm. On night paddles, the cool, night air over the lake will sneak up on you. It generally feels a bit chilly by the time we’re done, no matter how hot the day was.

  1. Camped at Devils lake as a kid, forever etched in my mysical mind, Spirit Lake by the Hochunk, how explicable.
