If you’re stuck at home, can’t get to the park any time soon, or maybe just can’t climb the trails like you used to, we’ve got you covered with Devil’s Lake State Park virtual hikes on our YouTube! The newest addition is this nearly 20-minute hike down Devil’s Lake’s popular Balanced Rock Trail.

The Balanced Rock rock formation is one of the most popular attractions at the park, second only to Devil’s Doorway. Of course, viewing both rock formations begins with a challenging hike up the bluffs. Balanced Rock is about 2/3rds of the way up the Balanced Rock Trail. Although the trail itself is less than half a mile long, it climbs nearly 500 feet in that half-mile. This means lots of folks can’t make the hike and others simply choose not to navigate the often very crowded, stone stairways. Hopefully, this virtual hike from top to bottom gives everyone a chance to enjoy the trail.

Click this link to go to the Balanced Rock Tour page. We always recommend when possible, using the Youtube app on your TV for a “big screen” experience. (Keep in mind that Youtube is not providing full 4k at this time.)

For more tours and videos from Devil’s Lake and the Baraboo area head to our Youtube channel and subscribe.

SIDE NOTE: This tour was shot on April 30th. This was the last day the park was closed to the public due to COVID19 Safer at Home Orders. This means, no one else is on the trail and the park is nearly silent. Then how could I shoot it? By accessing the park and through-hiking the National Ice Age Trail which remained open to the public.

Really Hike Balanced Rock…

If you want to actually get out and hike the trail, here’s more information.
