What tracks can you identify? Tracks in the winter snow remind us that we’re not alone out there. We share the park with a variety of wildlife! Of course, for us, it’s just a park and a place we’ll visit for just a few hours. For them this is home.
When out snowshoeing through Devil’s Lake State Park this weekend I saw a lot of tracks and signs of life out in the forest. Sometimes it’s easy to identify who made the tracks, A mouse, a deer, a coyote, etc., Sometimes it’s not so easy. Sometimes you can’t quite see the footprint itself and you’re left guessing by the general size of the track or the stride. Sometimes small animals bound through the deep snow and look like something much bigger. Well, even when you can’t be sure who made the tracks, it’s a good reminder that the park is a busy place even without us humans roaming around!
