Full Moon Paddle 2019

Once everyone was on the water, about 75 people with 56 kayaks, canoes and standup boards joined the park naturalist for a night paddle around Devil’s Lake.

Decorated in Green & Gold!

The annual Full Moon paddle is a free event put on by the Devil’s Lake State Park nature center each year. Participants are invited to be as creative as they like when they light up their boats. If anyone doesn’t have their own lighting, glowsticks are provided as well.

The video below can’t even begin to share the experience of paddling Devil’s Lake at night and watching the full moon coming up around the East Bluff, but still, you’ll get a feel for the experience. And yes, nearly all of the lights you see out there are boats!

Keep an eye out for next year’s event. The date changes each year of course because the naturalist is looking for a full moon, near a weekend and not until the water is nice and warm!
