It’s a Winter Wonderland at Devil’s Lake State Park, not just on the trails, but in the forests as well. When I check our cameras, I’m reminded of that old question; “If a tree fell in the woods and no one was around to hear it, would it make a sound?”
Humans often struggle to conceive that out there, life goes on without us. Often in spite of us. Our Critter Cams remind us that the land that we call “Devil’s Lake State Park” is just a human affectation; A map utterly meaningless those who call the forests and hills home. Within those “borders” exists a sentient community of life forms with no interest in beach toys, park stickers, and souvenir t-shirts. Survival is more than enough to keep them occupied, especially when the winter snow covers the ground.
