For those of you following along with the addition of the new “boathouse” on the north shore of Devil’s Lake State Park, here are a few photos I took of the work site (Tue, Dec 5th, 2017) while I visited with the workers bright and early this chilly morning!
As noted in the captions, the tall grass you see in a couple of shots covers a centuries-old Native American linear mound. I’ve talked to a few folks who do have some concerns that the building itself and future foot and vehicle traffic around new and potentially busy location may put the mound at risk of damage. Certainly, something to be conscious of in the process. You can read more about this project in some of our previous posts here.
