This weekend, Aug 4,5,6, is a relatively quiet one for events at Devil’s Lake. In addition to the weekly Friday and Saturday evening kayak tours, the UW-Madison Astronomy Program will be presenting “Universe In The Park” on Saturday. If you missed the Devil’s Lake “Full Moon Night Paddle” earlier this year, you can catch the “Almost Full Moon” paddle at Mirror Lake State Park on Saturday.
Well, let’s jump into this weekends events….
Universe In The Park
Join astronomers from the UW-Madison Astronomy Program Saturday, August 5th from 9-10 pm for an evening of exploring the Universe! There will be a short presentation at the beginning of the program. Then, if there aren’t too many clouds, participants can look at the stars and planets through the telescope. The program is held at the Northern Lights Amphitheater in the Northern Lights Campground.
Guided Kayak Tours
Go on an adventure at Devil’s Lake by kayak! Guides will take you on a 2-hour tour of the lake exploring the geology and lake’s wildlife.

The rental fee is: (The rental will include your paddle and life jacket)
- $25 for a single kayak
- $45 for a double
You will be required to wear a life jacket on the tour (whether you rent a kayak or bring your own).
To register: please contact the Nature Center at (608) 356-8301 ext. 140
More At The Nature Center

If you’re looking for hiking tips or a new trail to try, stop in at the nature center Thur, Friday, or Saturday mornings at 9 am for “Find A Trail”.
