Devil’s Lake Regatta 2016 This Weekend

Badger Men’s & Women’s rowing teams will be hosting their second annual regatta races at Devil’s Lake State Park. This has become a fun event for park visitors to watch. Most of the activity is on the south shore where the teams set up and gather throughout the day. Races are called on the north shore, and if you are looking for a unique view, you can also watch the races from the top of the bluffs!

This Week: The Badgers are set to host the Devil’s Lake Dual on Saturday, April 23. UW is set to race at 10:50 and 11 a.m. (CT) against Marietta College.
Last Week: Wisconsin sent their top three boats to the Stanford Invite where the varsity eight crew fell to both No. 4 California and No. 16 Stanford, but beat No. 19 Oregon State. In addition, both the second varsity eight and third varsity eight crews lost to California as well, but won against both Oregon State and Stanford. Good to know: UW is currently ranked No. 17 in the USRowing Collegiate Poll.

This Week: The No. 12 Wisconsin women’s rowing team hosts the Big Ten/Big 12 Challenge this Saturday at Devil’s Lake State Park in Baraboo, Wisconsin, marking the second-straight season UW has hosted a regatta at Devil’s Lake. The Badgers will race against Kansas and Oklahoma, with Iowa and Minnesota also competing in the regatta.
Last week: The Badgers made their second trip to California in the last three weeks, traveling to the Lake Natoma Invitational this past weekend. UW’s varsity four boat finished first in the morning session on Saturday morning to highlight the first day of racing. On Sunday, the Badgers’ varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four each beat No. 15 Gonzaga, No. 16 Iowa and No. 18 Notre Dame to finish first, while the novice eight boat beat both boats from No. 2 Cal to take first place in the third varsity eight grand final.
Need to know: Wisconsin already has individual boats with victories against the top two teams in the country after the varsity four beat No. 1 Brown in its first race this past Saturday at the Lake Natoma Invitational. The varsity eight had the other finish in front of a top-two team, beating out No. 2 Cal on April 2 in the first day of racing at the San Diego Crew Classic.
