Memorial Weekend seems to have snuck up upon us this year.  I can’t believe it’s this weekend already!!  Well, let’s see what’s going on, shall we!?

Animal Feeding Day – Saturday, May 23 Starting at 11 a.m. Meet at the Nature Center

Watch the animals in the Nature Center have lunch! Watch the box turtles munch on some salad. See the painted turtle slurp down a fish. Look at the treefrogs as the tackle a cricket or two. We’ll even be feeding the fox snakes mice on this day!

Drop-in Between 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Activities will happen at the North Shore Beach by the Chateau

Saturday, May 23 – Drop in on Frogs
Jump on over to learn about Wisconsin frogs and toads. Find out what frogs are found at Devil’s Lake, test your frog knowledge, make a jumping frog, and more.

Sunday, May 24 – Drop in on Owls
Whooo goes there? Owls of course! Find out what owls live at Devil’s Lake, dissect an owl pellet, and learn how owls find their way in the dark.

Exploration Station Nature Art – Sunday, May 24 Drop in Between 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. 

Activities will be happening outside the Nature Center. A leaf, a spider web, or even a ladybug can be an inspiration for an art project. Join us for some artistic creations – naturally! Art projects will include making stick dolls, nature weaving, painted sticks, and twig journals.

Saturday, May 23rd – Circus World’s Opening Weekend.  Baraboo

See acrobats, jaw-dropping contortionists, circus animals and clowns as they bring the circus to life in all new Big Top Shows.  Circus World’s magical entertainer, Tristan Crist, stars in a brand new production of The Tristan Crist Illusion Show. And there are engaging kids’ programs, guided tours of the world’s largest circus wagon collection, plus a carousel and animal rides, the original Ringling Bros. Circus buildings, demonstrations and fascinating new exhibits.

Sunday, May 24th – Baraboo Sunday Market 

The Downtown Baraboo Sunday Market includes Antique Dealers, Collectors, Artisans and Crafters selling their work on the streets of Downtown Baraboo. The Market will run every Sunday from May 24 through October 18th, rain or shine from 10am – 3pm.

Monday, May 25th – Memorial Day Services in Baraboo

The Baraboo American Legion Post No. 26 and Baraboo VFW Posts will conduct a Memorial Day service starting at 9 AM Monday, May 25.  The observance will be a 3 part service.
9:00 AM Flowers on the Water – on the bridge at Ash and Water Streets to commemorate those who died at sea.  Music and program will be part of the service.
10:00 AM  Procession on the Square – Veterans will take a car ride around the Square, with music by the Baraboo High School band.
11:00 AM Ceremony at Walnut Hill Cemetery – with a welcome from Chaplain Scully; Logan’s Orders, read by Jim Brice; music provided by Baraboo H.S. Band; a reading of deceased veterans by Rosie Cummings and placing of wreaths. mAll events will be held at the Civic Center in the event of inclement weather.
