I know skiers and snowshoers are anxious to get out on the trails at Devil’s Lake State Park, we’re just not there yet. We had about 2 inches of snow fall just a couple of days back and it certainly made the trails look inviting. The problem is that the recent snow fell on dry ground. There’s no base. Skis (As one anxious cross-country skier found out!) will scrape on the gravel below and your snowshoe cleats will be digging into the frozen dirt. So be patient and watch the weather.
Remember, free snowshoes are available for children and adults at the Nature Center… Or, will be as soon as there is enough snow!
