No doubt, one of our favorite community events each year is the Friends of Mirror Lake State Park’s Candlelight Mystery Hike which is going on this Saturday evening from 6 pm to 8 pm. Of course we’ve always made a day of it kicking off at Ski-Hi orchard around noon, then heading off to Wollersheim Winery in Prairie du Sac before heading over to Mirror Lake for the hike. It’s turned into an annual family tradition.. To bad that this year Ski-Hi is already closed for the season!
Now here’s what else is going on here in the Devil’s Lake region over the weekend… Continue reading
On Saturday evening families from around the area enjoyed a cool but comfortable evening at Devil’s Lake State Park enjoying the annual Halloween hike. This year in addition to the warm campfire, cookies and other treats, the children got to create their own paper roll owls and take part in a Wisconsin Owl scavenger hike! Children who answered all the questions posted along the torch-lit trail turned in their cards for a prize at the end of the hike. Yes, those are real owl wings!!
We look forward to joining the Friends of Mirror Lake State Park next Saturday for their torch-lit mystery hike, one of our favorite events of the year!!
As always, here are the pictures from Saturday’s Event!
The Fall Art Tour, Devil’s Lake State Park’s Halloween Hike, Good Neighbor day at the Aldo Leopold Foundation, Fermentation Fest, Ice Age Trail Alliance’s volunteer days and more! In fact, we’ve heard rumors that representatives of the National Park Service & US Fish & Wildlife will be checking out the area as well, so it’s all go around here this October weekend! Let’s get right at it…. Continue reading

The Candlelight hike kicks off from the north shore parking area and travels through the Northern Lights Campground. You will be walking on a paved path that travels about 1 mile. This is a great hike for the whole family! The Friends of Devil’s Lake State Park will have snacks and refreshments available to purchase at the Rock Elm Shelter near the parking lot. (Just look for the bonfire!) State park admission stickers are required for parking.
