Open Hunting Regulations

  1. Devil’s Lake State Park is no longer a deer registration station for bow or gun seasons.
  2. Be sure to ask permission prior to hunting on private property. The shaded areas on the Open Hunting Map indicate private property.
  3. Closed areas within the park are not open for hunting or any activity which would cause deer to be driven into a legally open hunting area.
  4. Tree stands or elevated devices must be completely removed each day at the close of hunting hours.
  5. It is illegal to construct or use tree stands or elevated devices on state property which causes damage to the tree.
  6. It is illegal to possess any firearm in the closed areas unless it is unloaded and enclosed within a carrying case. Campgrounds and picnic areas are considered closed areas.
  7. It is illegal to possess a bow/crossbow in the closed areas unless it is unstrung or enclosed in a carrying case.
  8. It is illegal to hunt or shoot within 50 feet from the centerline of concrete, blacktopped, or unpaved public roads.
  9. No animals except deer may be hunted in the state park
  10. Firearms must be unloaded and enclosed in a carrying case when transporting in or on a vehicle.
