DEVIL’S LAKE STATE PARK
2009 DEER SEASON REGULATIONS

- Gun deer hunting in the park will be allowed October 15-18, 2009 (hunting hours close at 12 noon each day), November 21– November 29, 2009, and December 10-December 13, 2009. Archery hunting will be allowed in the park November 21, 2009– January 3, 2010. Muzzleloader hunting will be allowed November 30-December 9, 2009. Note: archers are required to wear blaze orange during the firearm seasons.
- All legal firearms for deer hunting in Sauk County as well as bow and arrow will be legal for use in Devil’s Lake State Park this deer season. This includes rifles, shotguns, muzzleloaders, or handguns. Please see the 2009 Wisconsin Deer Hunting Regulations pamphlet for further information on legal weapons. All firearms must be unloaded and enclosed within a carrying case and bows must be unstrung or enclosed within a carrying case when in or on a motor vehicle or within a closed area of the park.
- Daily hunting hours in the park are listed in the 2009 Wisconsin Deer Hunting Regulations pamphlets, except during the October 15-18 hunt when hunting hours end at 12 NOON each day. Daily hunting hours for the rest of the hunts are the hours listed in the regulations pamphlet.
- A hunter with this State Park Hunting Permit, the appropriate deer hunting license and tags valid in the CWD Zones (Please see the 2009 Wisconsin Deer Hunting Regulations pamphlet for the complete list of valid permits for CWD Zones) may hunt in the park during the seasons listed in #1 above.
- Some areas of the park are posted as closed areas (see map on reverse side). A wounded deer moving into the closed area may not be pursued by the hunter. Park rangers must be informed by the hunter of the location of any wounded animal within the closed area. Park rangers will evaluate the situation and may authorize the hunter to recover the deer.
- All parking and traffic regulations apply during the seasons. Vehicles shall be operated only on established roads and parking permitted only in established parking lots and shoulders of established roads.
- It is illegal to hunt within 50 feet of the roadway’s center or discharge a firearm or shoot an arrow from a bow from or across a park road. It is illegal to shoot within 100 yards of a building devoted to human occupancy.
- Park admission stickers are required on all vehicles that enter the park ($7/day or $25/annual for vehicles with Wisconsin license plates; $10/day or $35/annual for vehicles without Wisconsin license plates). Hunters are encouraged to purchase a vehicle admission sticker prior to the season to avoid delays in entering the park and arriving at hunting areas.
- Hunters may enter the park no more than 1 hour before legal shooting hours.
- Devil’s Lake State Park is in the Monitoring Area which requires all adult deer to be sampled. Please visit http://dnr.wi.gov/org/land/wildlife/hunt/ for sampling locations.
