View of Devil’s Lake from the CCC Trail.

Difficulty: Difficult

Why Hike It? Great views. See red stone cliffs. Watch rock climbers. Access to popular climbing areas and to the top of East Bluff and the East Bluff Trail.

Description: Built (As many trails in the park were) by the Civilian Conservation Corps stationed at Devil’s Lake State Park in the 1930’s. The park forbid the use of explosives or mechanical equipment, so the young men had to move boulders by hand! This is a difficult, steep, climbing trail with stone steps on the south face of the East Bluff with many scenic views. (.3 mile, approximate hiking time 1 hour)

Winter: We do not recommend hiking this trail in winter. It is often ice covered and slippery.
