Our web guy and resident blogger is a kayak instructor and avid outdoor type. He and his family are always exploring locally and around the state for interesting things to do and see, some you’ll know, some may have slipped under the radar. Here are some more recommendations you might enjoy.
- Explore More Local Parks & Natural Areas – Lots of choices for hiking and biking just minutes from Devil’s Lake.
Paddling
- Paddling The Baraboo River – At one time the Baraboo River was blocked by 4 dams. Today they have been all removed making the Baraboo river one of the longest stretches of open river in the country.
- Paddling The Upper Dells of the Wisconsin River – Amazing beauty best viewed by by paddlers during the off-season when it’s safe for small human powered craft.
Historic or Other Points of Interest
- Yellow Thunder Monument – A historic memorial to Chief Yellow Thunder located 10 minutes from Devil’s lake.
- Man Mound County Park – Only human shaped effigy mound still surviving in Wisconsin. A short drive from Devil’s Lake.
Cycling
- 400 Trail – If you missed it elsewhere, this is 22 miles of scenic, easy, bike trail for the whole family.
