Search For Bigfoot & More This Weekend!

This weekend it’s kayak tours, a hike back in time and the ever popular search for Bigfoot at Devil’s Lake State Park!  Oh, and don’t forget the Friday Fish Fry!

Finding Bigfoot Night Hike

Saturday night, June 10th go on an adventure to see if Bigfoot really can be found in the bluffs at Devil’s Lake. We’ll use our detective skills to figure out which are signs and tracks left by other night creatures and which might be left by Bigfoot.
Time: 8:00 – 9:30 pm
New Location – Meet at the Steinke Basin Parking Lot

This is a great hike for kids of all ages.

Friday Fish Fry

Kicking off Saturday, June 10th, the always popular on Friday night are the fish frys at the Chateau (north shore concessions) are on again from 5:00 – 7:30 pm. Hope you will come and participate this summer! The cost is $11.50 per person which includes a 2 piece fish and 1 piece chicken meal with 3 sides. Drinks are not included. The Fish Frys happen every Friday night through Labor Day!

Kayak Tours

Go on an adventure at Devil’s Lake by kayak Friday & Saturday evenings at 6:30! Guides will take you on a 2-hour tour of the lake exploring the geology and lake’s wildlife. Space is limited, so you’ll need to preregister. To register, please contact the Nature Center at (608) 356-8301 ext. 140. If you need to rent a kayak, please let us know when you register. The rental fee is $25 for a single kayak and $45 for a double.

Hike Back In Time

Join retired Park Naturalist Ken Lange Saturday at 9 am on a geologic exploration of Devil’s Lake. See boulders transported by glaciers, a glacial lake bed, potholes, Devil’s Doorway, an Indian marker tree, a prairie, and pygmy forest. This hike is approximately 3.5 miles, with some steep sections. Please wear sturdy hiking boots and bring plenty of water. Meet at the Steinke Basin Parking Lot.

Animal Feeding Day

Watch the animals in the Nature Center have lunch every Saturday at 11 am! Watch the box turtles munch on some salad. See the watersnake slurp down a fish. Look at the treefrogs as the tackle a cricket or two.  Just head on up to the Nature Center!

Wondering what trail to hike or what to see in the park? Join the Nature Center staff every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday morning (Memorial Day through Labor Day) at 9 am for some great ideas.
