July Weekend 4th Activities!

From fireworks to the classic Wisconsin Friday Fish Fry, here’s the list on events and things to do in the area this 4th of July weekend!

Fireworks

Again you need to leave Baraboo to find fireworks. You can head 15 minutes south on Saturday evening to Sauk Prairie for their Fire on the River Event. Fire on the River.   You can also go to Wisconsin Dells on July 4th.  Here’s more details about the Wisconsin Dells Fireworks Extravaganza.   You may also want to check out the fireworks over Lake Wisconsin on July 3rd in Merrimac. Devil’s Lake Events

Thursday

9pm – High Tech Bat Hike

Our bat hikes have gone high-tech! Join us for a stroll by the lake to find bats. We’ll use special hand-held devices that will record the bats’ calls and amplify them so we can hear them. These observations will go back to the Wisconsin Bat Program to help them in their bat research. Meet at the Nature Center.

Friday

5pm – 7pm – Friday Fish Fry

Chateau – North Shore Concession Stand (mapDescription: 2 pc. fish, 1 pc. chicken dinner with 3 sides Cost: $11.50 Drinks not included Happening outside the Chateau (North Shore Concession Stand)
9pm – Lawn Chair Bat Watch
It’s a great time to bring a comfy lawn chair and watch the bats! We’ll park our chairs by the bat condo to watch the bats emerge from the bat condo. We’ll have fun bat information and a bat scavenger hunt for the kids to do while the wait to the bats to emerge. Meet at the bat condo (near the north shore boat launch).

Saturday

11 am – Animal Feeding Day
Watch the animals in the Nature Center have lunch! Watch the box turtles munch on some salad. See the watersnake slurp down a fish. Look at the treefrogs as the tackle a cricket or two. Meet at the Nature Center.
Devil's Lake Kayak Tours
6:30 pm – Kayak Tour
Want a new way to explore Devil’s Lake? Take a guided kayak tour! As we paddle, we’ll look for wildlife and check out some of the park’s geology and history too. There is a limited amount of space, so we ask you to preregister and prepay prior to the event. If you need to rent a kayak, please let us know when you register. The rental fee is $25 for a single kayak and $45 for a double. The kayak tours will start at the Chateau (North Shore Concessions). To register, please contact the Nature Center at (608) 356-8301 ext. 140.
