Join retired Park Naturalist Ken Lange on Saturday October 12th from 1pm to 5pm for a geology hike through the park. It’ll begin at the Steinke Basin parking lot with an orientation. The group will hike across the road and walk up onto the end moraine of the Wisconsin glacier and talk about rocks transported by the glacier. We’ll follow the trail onto the top of the south end of the East Bluff, where we’ll see the potholes, Devil’s Doorway, an Indian marker tree, a 200-year-old red cedar, a quartzite glade, and pygmy forest unique to Wisconsin. The group will return to the parking lot around 5:00 p.m.
Some sections of the trail are steep. The only requirement for the hike is the vehicle needs a valid park sticker. Meet at the Steinke Basin Parking Lot
