What was a frozen mess is quickly becoming a muddy mess covering large swaths of Devil’s Lake State Park’s north and south shore day use areas. The work being done will eventually update the park’s sewer systems to handle the ever-increasing crowd sizes. The hope is that the construction will be completed sometime in June. Until then, it’s fair to say that parts of the beach area will be a bit of a “hot mess”.
In addition there is a plan afoot to rebuild the beach wall. At this point I can’t tell you when that will happen or how it will impact park users. We’ll of course update you as we have more information.
