The former Badger Army Ammunition Plant/Sauk Prairie Recreation Area is a huge 7,354-acre property attached to the southern border of Devil’s Lake State Park which will be opened soon for outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy. The trick now is to get it right from the beginning… and there is a lot of debate over what “right” means. Especially recently when it seems that some within the DNR hierarchy have tried to back out of previous agreements and stipulations with various parties involved over the years. It’s a long story that has led many to feel that the DNR can no longer be trusted when it comes to plans for the SPRA. The Citizens for Safe Water Around Badger, The Sauk Prairie Conservation Alliance and others have taken a pro-active approach to the problem and are asking for your help.
If you oppose the Wisconsin DNR’s concept proposal for motorized vehicles (ATVs) and a shooting range at the former Badger Army Ammunition Plant (Sauk Prairie Recreation Area) we urge you to join the CSWAB in petitioning the National Parks supporting conservation and only low-impact recreation as originally stipulated in the DNR’s application the NPS.
