Camping Season?

Camping season never actually ends at Devil’s Lake State Park.  The Quartzite campground on the north shore of the park is open to campers year-around.  This weekend there were just a few campers out enjoying January temperatures that hung in the teens and single digits.  Winter camping can be a lot of fun, but it does demand a bit more thought.  You’ll need the right gear, the right clothing, the right diet and of course you’ll want to stay very busy.  It’s a good thing there’s lots to do at the park all winter long including; cross country skiing, ice fishing, snowshoeing, sledding and more. If you’d like to learn more about winter camping in general, Princeton University’s Outdoor Action website has some good info.  Click here.

Now, if winter camping is not your thing that’s cool however, one thing you should be doing right now is reserving your campsite for summer.  It’s tough getting a campsite at Devil’s Lake State Park any year, but with the centennial celebration it’s only going to get worse.   Reserve Now.
