Campsites Scarce, However…
I’m sure you know that finding a campsite at Devil’s Lake, or any state park for that matter at this late date is pretty much impossible, however the DNR would like you to know that there are last minute sites available in many of Wisconsin’s State Forests. We have more information about that posted here. What you may not know is that finding a site at Devil’s Lake AFTER Labor Day weekend may not be all that easy either. The park reports that lots of reservations are coming for weekends AFTER Labor Day weekend. 300+ reservations the very next weekend and over 200 the next two weekends. 175+ Oct 8. So don’t assume campsites are easily available because it’s the off season.
One factor that adds to the scarcity of sites after Labor Day is the closing of both the Northern Lights and Ice Age campgrounds on Sun-Thursday nights after the Labor Day weekend until October 10th when they will close completely. After October 10th, only the Quartzite campground will be open through the winter.
Oh, and did we mention Badger Trails youth camping weekend Oct 1-2-3…. That’ll fill up the campgrounds as well.
Have a safe holiday & remember to check in on our Facebook page for all the up-to-the-minute info as well as the daily chatter from your base camp in the Baraboo Hills.
