Keep the ideas coming!
It’s -2 as I sit down to write this morning. I have the urge to get outside, but on the other hand at minus -2 this is day only fit for the most intrepid of outdoor addicts.. and of course Ice fisherman! On good thing about a day like this is it gives us plenty of time to sit indoors and think about the coming summer and even the summer after that! How’s that for a lead in?
I’ve been asking folks to share their ideas on events that might be fun for the 2011 Devil’s Lake State Park Centennial celebration. (The park’s birthday is June 22nd by the way.) I’ve been getting lots of ideas, mostly through Facebook, E-mail and Twitter. As I said, I will take your ideas back to our next planning meeting to share them with the planning committee.
Here’s your chance to be heard.. And here are some of the ideas sent in so far..
- BBQ Cook Off Weekend – contest, prizes
- GeoCache Bash
- Paddler’s Rodeo
- Birthday Party & Dance
- Free Day! (yeah, I know…)
- Outdoor Rec Sampler – Demo days bringing in outdoor professionals to introduce folks to paddling, snorkeling, diving, climbing, trail running, etc.., share ideas, right equipment, etc…
- Photo Walks
- Photo Flickr tag contest
- State Park Sticker Raffles ( I could see that one coming as well!! )
- History Hikes
- Guided Tours
- Mountain Bike Race
I think there was a bikini contest in there too, but I’m not sure that’s quite what the park has in mind.
Any more ideas? Feel free to post them wherever and however you like…. There is short thread on Facebook already.
STAY WARM!!!!
