Winter at Devil’s Lake.  Fresh Snow on the Western Shore 2007

From November 21st to December 13th there will be hunting of one sort or another allowed in certain areas of the park.  Most notably to hikers & cyclists, most of the Stienke Basin area is open to hunting. If you are going to be out there during these dates be sure to wear brightly colored clothing, preferably blaze orange.  I know, it’s not much of a fashion statement! We usually mark hunting season down as a time to hike on the trails closer to the lake where hunting is not allowed.  To see a map of hunting areas within the park click here.

Winter Camping is available at the park for all you hearty souls out there.  For now all of the Quartzite campground is open.  Once the snow flies 14 sites will be kept open.  11 of those are electric.
