Camera Candy

Yesterday was one of those days at Devil’s Lake State Park where you could just point your camera in any direction and press the shutter. On days like this the park itself will make anyone with a camera look like an expert. We’ve all see those amazing photographs of the north shore entrance road before. I must have taken 1000 myself. I chose this one today because the camper gives you a sense of scale. What you may not realize when looking at this image is that it was cloudy and raining. Which made it simply that much easier to get great shots. Here’s a couple quickies…

I was simply amazed that this young Heron came right in and landed next to me. I had a fixed lens on the camera so I couldn’t zoom in or out. I had to take what he would give me.

I almost missed the Heron actually. I was busy taking pictures of the sea gulls and the colorful east bluff rising up into the thick fog.

Here’s another look at that entrance road again. This time as a backdrop to a few golden wet leaves.

On a side note. I do sell some of these images now and again so please don’t lift them without permission. I usually don’t mind if you ask first, especially for your personal family blogs. However if you are doing commercial work please contact me at design@skilletcreekmedia.com for rates.

Awesome photos. Almost like being there. I especially like the photo of the heron.
Absolutely stunning photos Derrick! Thanks for sharing!!! jb
Thank you!
Hey Jb. Thanks. There are certainly many days I’m pretty happy to live just a couple miles away…
Nice to see some great colors. I almost made the trip to the Pewitt’s Nest/Devils Lake this past weekend but life got in the way. Hopefully I can make it there before all the leaves hit the ground.
It seemed like it was all going brown, but then suddenly there was color! Hey, checked out your site too Mike. Great work!
Love all of you photos from all of the websites. Please email or call – I have a few questions about the area. I have also left you a voice mail as well.
Thanks
