Sounds like a great time Sandy! Glad you take your time. So many people just rush up and down and around all weekend that I think they miss why the area was turned into a park in the first place!

Hi Dave, Definatly call the park and talk to staff about your plans. It's always a good idea to get reservations. Parfrey's Glen is still closed (so you can't get to that connector). And I'm not sure you can get access to group camps unless you are an "official" group. Anyway, it's a good idea to call in.

My girls can't wait! We like to sit at our campsite in the morning and watch the boys race down to the lake to hike both bluffs. Then we take our time hiking 1, and go back to our site for a nice dinner and back for the dance. Then on Sunday, we sip coffee and hot chocolate while watching the boys race to see who will leave the campground first.

All in all, it is a lot of fun and we love every minute!

Planning a 3 day, two night backpack from the trailhead on Marsh Rd., NW of Merrimac all the way around to the end of the trail at Parfreys Glen State Natural area. Would like to camp the first night at the group camp area off the South Lake Rd. and the second night at one of the campgrounds on the north end of the lake. Dates are October 27 and 28. Would appreciate any advice.

Thank You.
